Welcome to Tealaska!!

I have been involved in the art of showing and raising purebred dogs since 1975.  My first love was the Great Pyrenees.  In 1982, with the purchase my first Rottweiler, Tealaska was formed.

Throughout the years I have enjoyed numerous successes from many of my Rottweilers.  But as time and nature took its toll and I found myself searching for a smaller breed.

I have always been drawn to the sporting dogs, owning several goldens, labs and a Chesapeake, throughout the years.  After much research, I was drawn to the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.  This small, compact little worker impressed me with its’ intelligence and strong desire to work.

In 2002, Tealaska welcomed Ch. Sagewood’s Lore Of Mi’kmac CGC, Seven, and Pikkinokka’s On The Waterfront, Marlon, our foundation.  In 2005 with a promising first litter, Tealaska welcomed our “W” litter out of Seven & Marlon.  With Tealaska Whine ‘N Quackers (co-owned by Deborah Ross), the 2006 Best Puppy in Show at the National Specialty from that litter, our first litter is already making headway in the conformation ring.

2005 also welcomed in the fold, A/C Ch. Tollwest Trial By Fire, 2006 JAM (Judge’s Award of Merit) at the AKC National.

The Toller breed is a wonderful, compact, medium sized dog that is high energy, affectionate, quite intelligent – so obedience training should be a must. The Toller also requires moderate grooming to maintain it’s medium length coat.  They are a great family dog, but require early and consistent training. This energetic little dog will keep the kids hopping as they have endless imagination.

If the Toller sounds interesting, please don’t hesistate to contact me.  I would be glad to chat with you on this wonderful companion and performance breed.

Although I no longer breed and show Rottweilers, I would also be happy to help you in any way with educational information on this breed, so don’t hesitate if you have inquiries.  Tealaska is also the home of:
